WORLD AFFAIRS.

The conflict between the United States and Russia with its bearing on China, continues to be played up. The Central Political Council of the Kuomintang is reported to be in favour of frankly asking the United States for assistance against the Communists on the grounds that the Communists are receiving support from Russia and that a communist China will be a menace to America.

Concern is again expressed about a possible revival of Japan. The Sing Pao draws an analogy between General MacArthur's generous treatment of Japan and Mr. Chamberlain's "appeasement" of Germany.
